Thanks to a partnership agreement with the Squamish Nation's Language and Culture Department, we are able to offer Sḵwx̱wú7mesh sníchim​ (​Squamish Language) and culture classes at Norgate Xwemélch'stn for the Indigenous students who attend our school.  Instruction is available for all Indigenous students, provided their families submit a parent consent form to the Squamish Nation.  Classes are taught by Sḵwx̱wú7mesh sníchim​ teachers.  Indigenous students in the upper intermediate grades will replace French Language exposure classes with Squamish Language classes. 

We are proud to be working with Squamish Language and Culture teachers and the Squamish Nation in partnership to continue with the important work towards language and culture revitalization for Indigenous peoples as we take one step closer towards Reconciliation. The language and culture teachers' work is integral to the rich learning experiences offered to students at NXCE!
